This fanciful set arrived a few days ago. These vivid little punctuation marks on our table evoke a smile every time I look at them. Not only that, they work — and better than my older (& pricier) Peugeot set. Also, outstanding customer service from the manufacturer! After my initial burst of joy, I did notice a very thin line on the salt shaker, so I called Olde Thompson to ask if someone there could send me just a new top. The service rep, Lois, was cordial and extremely gracious, and offered to send me an entirely new set at no charge. I mentioned in passing that my wife also liked the clear-acrylic Del Norte set we’d gotten a few years back, but since we’d been turning the pepper mill so badly (back-and-forth, rather than clockwise, as came recommended with the Sunset Fiestas) it didn’t work well any more. This salt/pepper set is very attractive and sturdy. It looks great with Fiesta ware. The only thing that annoys me (and it’s very minor) is that they come pre-filled. The salt inside the salt shaker is clumpy, so it doesn’t distribute salt very well. So just dump it out and fill with your own salt and a few grains of dry uncooked rice. The pepper mill works perfectly.

These look nice. The only problem is the pepper grinder gets pepper all over the counter. I ended up putting it in a small shallow dish. not sure if others have had this problem or if there is something wrong with the one I received. other than that I like them. update: I ended up getting rid of these and buying a different brand.. the pepper grinder became hard to grind and always got pepper all over.. I wrote to company and they suggested I buy ones with grinder on top.. well that is exactly what I ended up doing but the whole point was that I liked that these matched my fiesta ware dishes… I guess I can’t recommend these.
