I waited a few months to write this review because my dog has experienced allergies to plastic food dishes in the past and I wanted to see if she could even eat out of this thing. Well, for starters, no allergic reactions. She used to break out on her chin and there has been no sign of that since starting to use this dish. It also works wonders for her obsessive gulping/eating. I’m so happy we found this because we had tried everything short of buying something. We put rocks in her bowl, her giant Kong toy, we tried hand feeding her, kibble by kibble, for a while to try to train her to slow down. She is just relentlessly food obsessed. She is also quite strong and big and I was worried she would be able to just knock it over or reach the food too easily, but this

I purchased the dog feeder as about the 6th puzzle feeder I’ve tried. This puzzle feeder was probably the most expensive dish that I invested in though the best investment I’ve made. My standard poodle doesn’t know that food is to be chewed not inhaled. I feel like I’ve done everything recommended to try to slow her down to no avail. I have a background of dogs in my life for more than 50 years with showing, breeding and running my own groom shop for dogs. So I feel that I might have a little knowledge of our dogs than some but my dog’s gulping her food had me stumped. I have been keeping ads of this feeder for years but never taking the incentive to purchase one. After trying everything what was left? So I purchased this feeder on March 9 2015 and now 4 months later my one poodle now finishes her food

Let’s get this out of the way first: this mat will not be the most attractive item in your home. It’s quite large and homely. And BRIGHT green. However – it does work. My 50-lb dog could easily scarf down 1.5 cups of food in less than a minute. I’d tried multiple solutions and then our trainer recommended this. It didn’t slow the dog down to the 20+ minutes shown in the video, but it does take her a solid 8 minutes to eat now, which is certainly an improvement. (She figured out how to get the food from within the”blades” and doesn’t have to push it to the end.) An added benefit is that by eating more slowly, she feels more full and isn’t begging for food right after finishing her meal. She may one day figure out how to flip it over like some of the other
