From Coptic, to Secret Belgian Binding, to Straight Stitch, there are many possibilities to express your creativity with this age-old technique. In this course, we’ll be learning the JAPANSESE STAB BINDING technique, which provides great allowance for creativity in your binding, as you can select beautiful papers, covers, and more to create the meat of your book before the binding begins (if you’re a lover of beautiful paper, card stock, and journals, this class if for you). During this 2 hour course, we’ll learn the 4-Hole and Noble Japanese Stab Binding techniques, starting with a small bound jotter before we move to larger journals and books. All materials are provided in the cost of the workshop. Book Bindings
A6 format notebook (14.8 x 10.5 cm), hand-bound with beige-colored cotton thread, with the Japanese technique, a technique that does not use glues but simply a particular seam on one side of the notebook and allows to combine more loose sheets. The strawberry print cover is made using part of an illustration that I designed on the computer. Each notebook contains 20 pages of 200 gram white paper. The size of the notebook is perfect to fit in your bag or backpack. Use it to write ideas, notes, recipes or write down your curiosity, like in a travelogue. Each notebook is made entirely by hand and may present small imperfections that guarantee its authenticity.
